Does a liquid-to-air CDU remove the need for room cooling?

Direct, data-backed answers to the questions that matter before and during deployment.

An L2A CDU rejects secondary-loop heat to room air or outdoors through a liquid-to-air heat exchanger — deployable without facility water, ideal for retrofits and no-chiller sites. Mainstream units run 70 kW class (10-80 kW); verify room sensible capacity, airflow and noise.

01

When to use L2A

Facility water unavailable, early retrofit phases, edge or small deployments. Fast to deploy, no water-quality dependency; upgrade to L2L once facility water arrives.

02

How to evaluate

Review room sensible capacity: when heat goes into room air, existing AHUs must remove it; outdoor rejection is also possible. Check noise and fan energy.

03

What to watch

L2A is less efficient than L2L (larger approach); prefer L2L or facility-level rejection for high-density loads. Reserve the upgrade path in the design.
