How is condensation controlled in liquid cooling?

Direct, data-backed answers to the questions that matter before and during deployment.

Condensation is a hidden risk: when cold-plate surface temperature falls below the room dew point, moisture condenses and can short electronics. Controls: supply temperature above dew point (typically 3-5 °C margin), insulation on cold plates and lines, humidity monitoring and condensation interlocks.

01

When the risk is highest

Low supply temperature plus high humidity — typical with chiller-fed loops (7-15 °C) in humid rooms. Warm-water cooling (25-45 °C supply) avoids most of it by design.

02

How to control it

Supply ≥ dew point + 3-5 °C; insulate cold plates and piping; monitor humidity (40-60% RH target); condensation sensors trigger interlocks (raise temperature or alarm).

03

What to watch

Dew point shifts seasonally — monitor year-round; insulation must be media-compatible; interlock actions must be resettable and logged.
